Barbara Szkutnik

Barbara Szkutnik will be the featured artist at Aurora Gallery, 1004 Main St., Vancouver WA, in November. The show will open on First Friday November 4th during the monthly art walk event held in downtown Vancouver. Barbara is mostly known for her northwest landscapes done in soft pastels but this current work features more color and has a contemporary appearance. The show will run November 4th through 29th 2011. Also featured are small abstracts by Elizabeth Steinbaugh.



Brenda Boylan," Curbsides"

Brenda Boylan, NPS Signature member was recently awarded the "Pastel Artists of Hawaii" award at the 39th Annual Pastel Society of America's Annual Open Exhibition in New York, NY for her piece "Curbsides" this past September. The piece was also invited to show at the Butler Institute of American Art's Guiffuni Gallery this coming Dec~Jan, 2011~2012. The piece was inspired by the late, hazy sun of Santa Cruz, CA. during a walk.



Steve Hill, "Swift Bay Farm Barn"

Steve Hill, signature member and former NPS President was recently awarded “Best Of Show” in The Plein Air Washington/San Juan Preservation Trust annual juried plein air event on Orcas Island, with his piece “Swift Bay Farm Barn”.

The painting was done as a class demo during a summer workshop led by Hill, last July, on Lopez Island. The annual “San Juan Preservation Trust Summer Social” event had a very successful auction and strong sales at Crow Valley Gallery on Orcas Island, during the months of August and September. 10% of all art sales went directly to the trust, as donations by the artists.


Joe MacKechnie was recently selected as one of the contributing artists to this year’s Strokes of Genius 4: Exploring Line which will be released by the end of 2011. For this issue, 112 artists were chosen. The North Light judges and series editor Rachel Wolf selected the winning images from a record number of more than 1650 entries.
